JASPER JOHNS
JASPER JOHN'S ART & STUDENT'S BIRTHDAYS!
Lesson: We talked about the artist Jasper Johns. We also discussed some of the differences with using different mediums like crayons or oil pastels. How do the different mediums affect color, value, and emphasis. There was also some cross curriculum work with using numbers in art.
THIRD GRADE - SNOWMEN AT PLAY!
Lesson: This is a fun project I came across on Artsonia by Blue Mountain Elementary students. I love the different perspective and that each picture can still be individualized. These aren't as simple as they look!
Aren't these Joan Miro inspired pieces wonderful!
They get it!! Students used color, different color values, shapes, and lines in their creations.
Vocabulary
LINE
Lines and curves are marks that span a distance between two points (or the path of a moving point). As an element of visual art, line is the use of various marks, outlines, and implied lines in artwork and design. A line has a width, direction, and length A line's width is sometimes called its "thickness". Lines are sometimes called "strokes", especially when referring to lines in digital artwork.
